Hermitage of San Lorenzo
Saint Lawrence is the patron saint of the valley’s inhabitants. The hermitage dedicated to him is perfectly visible from the valley floor, thanks to its location.
We’ll begin the route in Lahoz, heading towards the Coronas pass, along the path of the same name, which starts to the right, just at the entrance to the village. During the hike, we’ll pass a small pond and a watering trough. The route continues through the valley to some meadows, where it ascends to the left towards the Coronas pass. Once we reach the ridge, a gentle uphill walk will take us to the Coronas pass (55 minutes). We then head to the left towards the nearby hermitage of Saint Lawrence (1 hour 20 minutes). To return to the valley, we’ll use the path once used by the inhabitants of Lahoz, a shortcut that avoids going around through Villamardones. The trail begins at the nearby gate and soon branches off from the one that descends to the abandoned village. It turns left, skirts below the hermitage, and enters the pine forest. The path descends to the edge of the woods, where we come to a fence. We follow it for a few meters and find another fence through which we can access the pastures, and from there, we reach the village of Lahoz (1 hour 45 minutes).
