Arrayuelas
The summit of Arrayuelas is the highest point of the long rocky ridge that stretches from Recuenco to Carrias. It forms the natural border between Valderejo and Valdegovía.
The shortest and easiest ascent to Arrayuelas begins in Lalastra. From the parking area at the entrance to the village, walk about 300 meters towards Arroyo. You will soon reach a wayside cross dating back to the 16th century. Here begins an old bridle path used by muleteers and shepherds, now converted into one of the trails that crisscross the Natural Park, the “Senda de la Sierra” (Mountain Trail). Follow this path to a sluice gate and a watering trough, until you reach the La Sierra pass (30 minutes). You will see a crossroads; continue to the right until you reach the repeater station. We continue along the broad ridge, heading towards a hill until we reach the summit of Arrayuelas (0h.50′). Following the ridge, a sharp escarpment leads towards Carrias. We will advance for a short distance until we reach the pass known as Portillo de Grojos (1h.00′). From here, we traverse the southern slope of the massif until we reach the Senda de la Sierra (this is an uncomfortable route due to disuse of the path).
We will return to Portillo de la Sierra via the same route we ascended (1h.20′). From this point, we have two options: descend to Bóveda via the path or return to Lalastra.
