Carrascosa is a broad hill located southeast of the village of Lalastra. Its highest point is El Cocho (1020m), which is perfectly defined by the courses of the three rivers of Valderejo: Purón, Polledo, and Paules. It is also surrounded by two of the park’s main trails (the Purón Trail and the Portilla Trail), allowing us to complete a circular route. We will begin the walk in the village of Lalastra, in front of the “Parketxea,” the visitor center of the Valderejo Natural Park. The path leading into the forest begins there. We soon cross a sluice gate, and a few meters further on, we leave the main track to take another one to the left, which turns sharply and climbs gently through pine trees. We will come to another wooden fence (0h.20′), and opposite it, we take a path that soon joins another track. Shortly after (0h.35′), another fence leads to a more open area. We leave the Portilla meadows behind and begin to gradually descend. We reach a crossroads (0h.55′), and choose the path on the right, which descends through the Polledo stream valley. We reach the Purón Trail (1h.20′) and continue to the right towards the village of Lalastra. We head towards nearby Lalastra, which is just over ten minutes away.
