Valderejo Natural Park Loop

We begin this loop in Lalastra. It’s a hike of over 6 hours, although thanks to the network of trails that crisscross the Park and lead us to its rural villages, we can complete it over several days.

We start our hike in Lalastra. The Sierra Trail begins at the crossroads next to the parking area, which we will follow for most of the route. We reach the mountain pass (0h.25′). Here we begin traversing the ridge towards Recuenco (left). The trail runs along the crest the entire time. It’s a pleasant walk where we’ll see the pastures of Lalastra and Lahoz, and it passes by the Bovedo cross (0h.45′). We’ll reach Recuenco along this same trail (1h.10′). We continue around the valley in a counter-clockwise direction. We descend towards the Barrerón pass (1h 45′), and continue along the track towards the Coronas pass and the San Lorenzo hermitage (2h 25′).

We continue along the Sierra Trail until we reach the junction with the Vallegrull Trail, which we ascend (to the right) to the second summit of the Park (3h 00′). We now head towards the Acebedo pass. We descend towards it along the southwest slope. Once at the pass, we descend through the valley until we reach the Purón River, which we cross and enter the gorge (4h 10′) to climb to Ribera (4h 35′). From the abandoned village, we tackle the final stretch of the hike along the Portilla Trail, which will take us to Lalastra (6h 15′).
